The Big Ten will feature a unique array of quarterbacks this fall.

There will be familiar names coming back, names arriving on the scene from high school with big-time expectations and names from other places who’ve managed to move the needle this offseason.

It’s only mid-June, but that just means the first games that count will be here before you know it. With that in mind, Josh Pate, the host of Josh Pate’s College Football Show and a national college football insider for CBS Sports, got to work and put forth his Big Ten quarterback rankings for the 2025 season.

Not surprisingly, Penn State QB Drew Allar was at the top of Pate’s Top 10 list. Allar led the Nittany Lions to the College Football Playoff semifinals before throwing a crushing interception as Penn State fell short against Notre Dame a season ago. Instead of heading to the NFL after a very successful 2-year run as the starter in State College, Allar decided to give it another go and return for his senior season.

Right behind Allar on Pate’s list is Ohio State QB Julian Sayin, the former 5-star prize and Alabama transfer who doesn’t even know if he’ll be the starting quarterback in Columbus this fall. Sayin is locked in an offseason QB battle with Ryan Day confirming the starting job is down to the redshirt freshman and Lincoln Kienholz to replace Will Howard under center.

Third on Pate’s list is Dante Moore, who is expected to be the next great Oregon quarterback following the departure of Dillon Gabriel to the NFL. Moore saw starting experience as a true freshman 2 seasons ago at UCLA but spent the past season as the backup learning the system in Eugene.

No. 8 on the list is Michigan freshman Bryce Underwood, who is a 5-star in-state stud and is expected to be the starter from Day 1 this fall.

Finally, at No. 10, there is UCLA newcomer Nico Iamaleava, who lit up the spring football headlines and for not all the best reasons. Iamaleava said goodbye to Tennessee in his own controversial way and is now hoping a return to California can help return the Bruins to college football’s elite.

Here is Pate’s complete Top 10 list:
