Oregon landed a commitment from the opposite coast on Friday.
Four-star Rochester wideout Messiah Hampton, the top-ranked recruit from the state of New York, announced his pledge to Oregon on social media. He had a final list of suitors that also included Georgia, Ohio State, Miami, Penn State, Syracuse, and Michigan. The Ducks, who were scheduled to get an official visit from him next weekend, sealed the deal ahead of that trip.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound wideout is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He plays high school ball for Rochester (N.Y.) James Monroe. The Composite has Hampton rated as the No. 11 receiver in the class and the No. 102 overall prospect.
In short, Oregon is getting a stud.
As a 2-way player for James Monroe last fall, Hampton caught 56 es for 869 yards, recorded 42 tackles, picked off 1 , and returned 3 punts for touchdowns. As a sophomore, he had 13 touchdown receptions, 1 pick, and 2 punt returns for scores. 247Sports scout Andrew Ivins wrote that Hampton is also “rather spirited” as a blocker and will “work for his teammates.” Oregon coach Dan Lanning will love that.
Hampton’s pledge gives the Ducks 8 known commitments in the 2026 class. He’s the fourth top-200 prospect to publicly pick the Ducks. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
