Caitlin Clark has been battling the first significant injury of her playing career. Now, the former Iowa star is preparing to make her much-anticipated return to the Indiana Fever.
After appearing in the first 4 games of the 2025 season, Clark headed to the injured list and missed the last 5 games with a quad injury. It is the first missed time for Clark due to injury across her college and professional career.
The good news is that Clark will be back in action over the weekend. The Fever announced on Friday that Clark will be back in the lineup vs. the New York Liberty on Saturday afternoon in her first game back since being injured.
Shortly after confirming the return, the Fever shared a clip of Clark draining a half-court bucket in practice:
The return of Clark is good news on multiple fronts. At the time of her injury, Clark was the early frontrunner to win her first WNBA MVP honor. She has since slid to 2nd, checking in at +400 via BetMGM, but there is certainly enough time for Clark to impress and chase down frontrunner Napheese Collier (-375).
Indiana is also thrilled to get its superstar back in the lineup. The Fever went just 2-3 during Clark’s injury absence, and she is still the team’s per-game leader in points (19), assists (9.3) and made 3 pointers (2.8).
Across the WNBA, fans are also ready to see Clark’s return. According to Nielsen, the national TV ratings for the WNBA plummeted by 55% during Clark’s injury absence, illustrating the impact she has on viewership across the country.
As for Saturday’s matchup, the first meeting of the season between the Liberty and Fever was a dramatic 90-88 victory by New York in Indiana. The Fever will try and get some revenge this time around with Clark officially returning to action.
